Ways to Reset the Verify Engine within a 1998 Honda Civic Lx 1Turn the ignition crucial to the "Off" position and attach the scan tool cable to the diagnostic connector. On the 1998 Honda Civic, the connector is white in color and located under the driver side of the dash towards the right of the steering column between the column and the center console.
2Turn the ignition important to the "On" position. The scan tool will power up when the important is turned on Auto diagnostic tool. From the main menu displayed on the scan tool screen, select " Generic OBD II" or "Global OBD II." From the next menu, select "Read Codes." Write down all of the codes displayed for future reference if needed.
3Push the "Back" button on the scan tool and select "Clear Codes" or "Erase Codes." A message will pop up and ask you if you are sure you want to reset the codes. Select "Yes auto diagnostic software." Within a few seconds another message will pop up and say that the codes are cleared. The "verify engine" light on your Honda is now reset.
